Season for sweet treats

One of my earliest Christmas memories would have to be hanging around my Nan's kitchen whilst she baked, whipped, moulded, cut, creamed and made sweet treats that smelt so yummy i wanted to lick every spoon and bowl in the kitchen! (this could be where my food love started?)
This year i thought i would get into the 'mum baking' mode seeing as though i need to work on my skills for next year, and i must say that i was kind of pleased and surprised! i didnt attempt my Nan's Christmas cake recipe it seems quite above my skill level for now, but i did find one from here. I also made a batch of rocky road the recipe was given to me from a friend at work, the best rocky road i have ever had and everyone at work drools over it too... although its probably the ugliest sweet treat in the world, who cares though when it is oh so yummy!

Feeling festive!

Well.. it is almost Christmas, yay! not so yay for the hot 38degree day. This year there will be no Christmas ham or seafood for me but hey I am sure I can make up for it with plenty of chocolate and other goodies instead!
2010 has been a great year for champ + Rosie, and next year will bring a new little arrival to the team! I have plenty of pics to post about transforming our study into a happy little nursery, and yes I did treat myself to another very special chair!

Market wrap

Thanks to everyone who came down to perth upmarket last sunday it was a fab day! although I was only there for a few hours... my husband & brother did a great job looking after the stall... yes they did get some strange looks and a little bit of 'sooo you two guys craft this stuff huh?...' which they brushed off!

I did manage to have a bit of a look around this time and it was fantastic to see so many creatives in the one place.

If you are in Perth, dont forget that Subi Upmarket kicks off tonight at 5pm on Rokeby rd (towards the Hay st end) we wont be there this time (hopefully the drunken family member of the stall holder near us from last year wont be there either... no names) its a great night with loads of entertainment, yummy food and great stalls!

ps. jus burgers is just around the corner from here so maybe treat yourself after all that hard work shopping

Hooray!

well I am definitely cutting it fine for tomorrow... I am still waiting on a couple of new things to be screened...eeepp and fingers crossed all will work! but for now some excitement that these two totes are back in stock, check them out for yourself tomorrow at Perth Upmarket along with their new bird buddy tote pictured below! whatever is not sold will be listed on etsy hopefully tomorrow night but more likely monday! happy saturday.

Second fabric

hooray! my second lot of fabric samples arrived today these designs are inspired by the sunshine we have been seeing around Perth lately, I am pretty happy with them although the colours might need a little adjusting... I was hoping to have these available in fat quarters this year but I am quite pushed for time at the moment, so this looks more like a project for the new year! But this week should see this range of designs grow to become canvas art, tea towels and bags fingers crossed!!

Perth Upmarket Christmas Edition

Perth Upmarket Xmas edition is on next weekend at UWA! I cant believe how fast this has come around... so much still to do! make sure you put it in your diary, its always a great day and the best opportunity to buy handmade and support local retailers... not to mention it being the best excuse to buy yourself some lovely cupcakes to snack on!! come say hi we will be downstairs in winthrop Hall.

Well not many things are free these days.. but the very talented Shivani from My Little Owl barn has been able to put together a great free downloadable & customisable owl lover calendar for 2011 featuring 30 super artists and creatives! as Shivani says it would make a perfect Christmas gift printed on some lovely card check it out!

A little while ago I mentioned that I moved house, it was weird going from a brand new house into an 80s exposed brick number! but we are slowly starting to redo bits and pieces which is making it more like home, and now that I am in crazy nesting mode I am sure that things will get done quicker. This is a peak at the dining room, the before is from the previous owners (I kept all of the the old real estate pics for comparison!) I gave into temptation for my replica chairs obsession earlier in the year and when I found them on sale on the net I just couldn't resist! its getting there, and I have finally started to make a few prints from my euro travels from about three years ago... glad to see my hundreds of photos haven't gone to waste just yet.

check out davidmetnicole, full of fantastic goodies from way back... I think I would probably frequent this place if I were in NSW, although I do think they ship items...hmmm

where has the year gone?

I cant believe how fast this year has gone...christmas is just around the corner, I guess you know your getting older when you say things like that! champ + rosie will be doing one final market for the year Perth Upmarket 28th November at UWA which will be a biggie... I think I will probably do half a day as I dont know how I will go maneuvering around behind my stall with my ever growing bump! but no doubt there will a couple of cheerful folks to replace me...

More light reading...

I stumbled across this Australian online magazine Adore via Decor8, definitely worth a very lengthy look! A whole lot of the lovely bits and pieces in here are by Australian designers/shops which is lovely to see!

I'm not sure that that I can completely abandon the traditional paper magazine... there is just something about bookshelves with sequential issues and cutouts for pin boards which I just cant live without... not to mention what would I read with my tea?

...do yourself a favour and make sure you check out Rue magazine a great new online magazine by Crystal Gentilello & Anne Sage which seems to be popping up everywhere, full of beautiful drool worthy pics and great little reads! These two ladies have loads more inspiring pics and reads over on their own sites too.

Pretty Perth!

Exciting news.. the champ + rosie little people range of badges is now available at Aspects of Kings Park! every time I go to Aspects to drop off stock not only do I want to buy the entire shop...I just cant help but love Perth (corny I know!) I also had a peek at the absolutely gorgeous window illustration done by future shelter (they have much nicer pics over on their site!) mmmm...perth...

First Fabric

well, I am still no closer to my dream of being a champion seamstress, but I am a little closer to finally having some of my very own champ + rosie designed fabric to use when i finally learn how to sew... this is the first sample and i think it worked well on this quilting weight cotton?

Perth Upmarket

I can believe its that time again! Perth Upmarket is on tomorrow from 10am - 4pm at UWA, loads of awesome retailers and fun stuff for kids! (I cant wait to have a yummy pie from Chica catering i have been hanging out for one all year!) and of course champ + rosie will be there, we will be located sort of in the middle of Winthrop Hall, cant wait to see you all!
